A 2016 study by researchers at the Stanford School of Medicine showed through functional magnetic resonance imaging that hypnotherapy had an observable physiological effect on brain activity to beneficial effect. The study’s senior author, Professor David Spiegel MD, professor and associate chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences states that hypnotherapy is “a very powerful means of changing the way we use our minds to control perception and our bodies”.
